Why Does Lyft Require ID Submission on Lyft Cash Rides

Lyft requires ID submission when using Lyft Cash to prevent fraud and comply with anti-money laundering regulations, ensuring that only legitimate users are adding funds to their accounts and using the service.

Items Lyft Will Ask You To Submit

  1. ID submission: You will need to scan your government-issued ID. If you can’t provide a government issued ID, there are other options listed under “Accepted IDs”.
  2. Take a photo of yourself: With this you will need to take and submit a photo of yourself. This will become your profile photo to help drivers identify you.

  • Passport.
  • State ID.

What To Do If You Can’t Provide An ID

If you’re unable to provide an ID, you can send Lyft an alternative document. This document must contain your name and any additional information required (mailing address or date of birth).

How To Send An Alternative Document

  1. Tap the checkbox under ‘Learn More’ and then tap ‘Next’.
  2. Tap ‘See other ID options’ on the ‘Scan your ID’ screen.
  3. Tap ‘Next,’ then enter the information required to contact support.
  4. Attach a photo of your document and add a description.
  5. When finished, tap ‘Submit’.
  6. Lyft will then review the document and get back to you.
